My work has taken me into HR through the world of financial services by way of training and development. There I started a training and development department at a savings and loan at the time of financial deregulation. My team built a full cadre of training from technical training (teller, new accounts, lending), new product training to management training . Our organization was recognized as providing premier training for all staff. The feather in our cap was the P.L.U.S. sales training which resulted in the financial institution tripling its assets and having record profits in 3 short years.
From there, I moved into performance consulting by blending training and development and performance management. This step into "traditional HR" led to taking on new roles in HR management and a more generalist role in HR. As an HR manager in a marketing firm brought hands-on experience in all facets of Talent Management including: compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, employee relations. This provided me the opportunity to provide a hands-on, holistic approach to helping organizations and employees be successful. What fun!
This experience brought me to taking advantage of the opportunity to have my own consulting firm, ComprehensiveHR, Inc. Ah, the people you meet and the organizations you get to peek into and work with! It is unmatched by being an employee. As my consulting cohorts and I often said that the trick to being successful in consulting, "It is not the bellowing, fire breathing Oz that you need to work with but the man behind the curtain". What a 10 year ride!
Business I worked with whether Fortune 100 to a small 35-employee business were always stronger after a work engagement. Assignments were built around the design / transformation of HR structure, talent management programs, policies and business processes, resulting in creating a high performance organization to meet strategic goals and increased employee engagement.
Successful projects include:
Transforming HR to align with the organization's strategy and goals
Increasing manager's effectiveness in managing performance through developing skills, knowledge and tools
